About Black Victory

The Messenger Behind the Message ...

is a storyteller.  I tell stories through what I write and I write what stirs my soul.

Late January, 2002, the Children’s ministry at my church sought ideas for how the young people could participate in the annual Black history program.  I came up with one—a Black history rap.

‘Black history is God’s victory and God’s victory is Black history,’ is the opening verse.  From there a revelation blossomed.  I clearly saw the connection—God’s victory is Black victory.  How profound the reckoning that WE ARE HIS VICTORIOUS BLACK PEOPLE!  The power in what that means has never left me.

Fast forward to today and my perspective on its meaning has broadened.  Black victory is about more than recognizing the victory of the past.  It’s about living victorious in the present.  It’s about letting your light shine.  It’s about ME allowing MY LIGHT to shine so that others may see it and praise God in heaven!  Black Victory is my light.  It is beyond a state of mind.
